Book Review: Kettlebell Rx

One of the hallmarks of a great coach is that they can simplify the teaching of complex movements. In that regard, Jeff Martone is a master. His teaching style and his progressions unravel complex kettlebell movements and make them simple and attainable. After leaving coach Martone's seminar, I could not wait to try to teach kettlebell snatches and turkish get-ups to my athletes using the progressions he showed. After a weekend with coach Martone, I went from liking kettlebells to loving them.

On Coaching: Part 8

Coaching a class of athletes requires not only that you educate them and entertain them, but that you ultimately get them to move and to move better than they would without your coaching. Seeing faults in your athletes' movements is part of what is called the "coach's eye." However, bridging the gap between seeing those faults and fixing those faults and training your athletes to move better is both an art and a science.

Get Fixed Up

ART is most commonly used to treat conditions related to adhesions or scar tissue in overused muscles. According to ART practitioners, as adhesions build up, muscles become shorter and weaker, the motion of muscles and joints are altered, and nerves can be compressed. As a result, tissues suffer from decreased blood supply, pain, and poor mobility.
