Registration is open now at games.crossfit.com.

The CrossFit Games Open is the first stage of the annual CrossFit Games. Each week for 5 weeks, CrossFit releases a workout, and hundreds of thousands of people around the world complete it and post their scores to the CrossFit Games website.

After five weeks, the top men and women are declared National Champions and qualify for the CrossFit Games.

BUT, you don’t have to be a crazy-competitive athlete to participate: the Open is for EVERYONE!! There are Rx and Scaled divisions, and the Games website lets you compare yourself to your friends, your enemies, everyone else in your gym, everyone else in your state, your region, or the world. This is a golden opportunity to find out how fit you really are (on a global scale!) It’s exciting, a little terrifying, and will leave you with a great sense of accomplishment. We always see a ton of PRs in the Open!

Registering at games.crossfit.com costs $20 and will let you see how you stack up worldwide. This is not required in order to participate in the Intramural (below), but it’s fun and we recommend that you do it!

The Virtuosity Intramural

Here at CrossFit Virtuosity, we’ll be running the weekly Open workout for 5 weeks on Fridays beginning Friday, February 22nd. If you attend on a Friday, you will do the Open workout regardless of whether you’re officially registered! If you can’t make it on Fridays, we will run make-up sessions on Sundays at 1pm (during a special extended Open Gym.)

Like last year, to make things extra fun, we’ll be running an in-house competition around the five Open workouts. Every Virtuosity athlete will be assigned to a team based on typical attendance time: you’ll be either Team AM or Team PM. Your score each week will count towards your team’s overall standing!  You don’t have to attend all weeks to help your team – your score will count any week you attend, and won’t count if you have to skip a week.

Scoring will work as it does on the CrossFit Games website: any Rx score beats any scaled score; and you can complete any week either Rx or Scaled regardless of what you did any other week. Team score will be an average of the team member rankings within the gym for that week.
